Jens Boenisch

Jens Boenisch (* 1964 ) is a German educator and university professor for pedagogy for the physically handicapped . He currently teaches at the University of Cologne .

Life

Jens Boenisch is married and has three children.

Boenisch studied special education and rehabilitation for the physically and speech-impaired at the Technical University of Dortmund . He then made his 2nd state examination for teaching special needs education. Since 1995 he has been a research assistant and assistant for physically handicapped education at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg at the chair of Professor Harry Bergeest . He received his doctorate there in 1999.

In 2003 he was appointed junior professor in the field of pedagogy for the physically challenged. From 2004 he also took over the duties of the sick chair holder.

Jens Boenisch has been at the University of Cologne since 2005 . There he holds the professorship at the Faculty of Human Sciences, Department of Curative Education, Department of Education for People with Impairments in Physical and Motor Development.

His main research area is the language development and language promotion of children without spoken language, the support by means of various forms of assisted communication. To this end, he heads the research and advice center for assisted communication in Cologne. Furthermore, he researches the learning behavior of children with spina bifida and / or hydrocephalus as well as the effects of impaired motor skills on language and learning behavior.
