Jens Brandenburg (born March 8, 1986 in Simmerath ) is a German economist and politician ( FDP ). He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2017 .

Life

Brandenburg grew up together with two brothers. He graduated from high school in 2005 in Monschau . He then studied political science and economics at the University of Mannheim until 2010 with a bachelor's and master's degree. From 2010 to 2014, Brandenburg did his doctorate at the Graduate School of Economics and Social Science at the University of Mannheim. After graduating as Dr. rer. soc. Brandenburg worked for an international management consultancy. Brandenburg lives with his partner in the Electoral Palatinate.

Party and politics

Brandenburg has been a member of the FDP since 2006. Before that, he joined the Young Liberals in 2005 . From 2010 to 2013 he was the state chairman of the Young Liberals in Baden-Württemberg. Since March 2019 he has been chairman of the FDP district association Kurpfalz.

MP

For the 2017 federal election , he stood for the FDP in the Rhein-Neckar constituency and entered the 19th German Bundestag with ninth place on the FDP Baden-Württemberg state list . As a member of the Committee for Education, Research and Technology Assessment, Brandenburg is the spokesman for studies, vocational training and lifelong learning for the FDP parliamentary group and chairman of the parliamentary group's working group on education, research and technology assessment. Brandenburg is also the spokesman for the rights of LGBTI people . In addition, Brandenburg is represented as a full member and chairman of his parliamentary group in the study commission "Vocational training in the digital world of work" . He is also a deputy member of the Committee for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth .

Memberships

Jens Brandenburg is a member of the non-partisan European Union Germany , which advocates a federal Europe and the European unification process. Brandenburg is also a member of the board of trustees of the Federal Magnus Hirschfeld Foundation and of the board of trustees of the German AIDS Foundation .
