The study commission "Vocational training in the digital world of work" of the German Bundestag , chaired by Dr. Stefan Kaufmann (CDU) has the task of examining the development prospects of vocational education and training in the future, digitized working world and examining the economic and social potential of modernization.

The appointment of the commission was decided by the German Bundestag on a joint request of the parliamentary groups of CDU / CSU, SPD, FDP and Die Linke, with the abstention of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen on June 28, 2018. The constituent meeting of the study commission took place on September 27, 2018.

Members

The commission has 38 members, including 19 members of the German Bundestag and 19 experts appointed by the parliamentary groups. At the same time, the parliamentary groups nominated 19 deputies for the MEPs; the experts have no deputies. According to the balance of power in the nineteenth German Bundestag, the CDU / CSU has seven MPs, the SPD four and AfD, FDP, left-wing parliamentary group and Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen two MPs each.

Division into project groups

In its meeting on November 5, 2018, the study commission decided to set up seven project groups (COM-Drs. 19 (28) 14) and agreed that initially three project groups should start work in parallel. The first three project groups were constituted on December 10, 2018. The seven project groups are:

  • Challenges of the digitization of / for vocational education
  • Requirements for training in the company
  • Requirements for vocational schools (especially vocational schools and vocational schools)
  • Continuing education, dual studies and lifelong learning
  • Increasing the attractiveness of vocational training - equivalence and permeability
  • Entrances and transitions - fit, career orientation, securing skilled workers, integration of special groups
  • Education and training financing
