Research priorities

Peter FE Sloane did his doctorate in 1983 under Martin Twardy at the University of Cologne with a thesis on theoretical and practical aspects of goal setting . In the context of professional development, he focuses on the structure of learning target systems and focuses on professional learning and teaching. In addition, he has the following research priorities:

Model research : In his post-doctoral thesis Model Research - Considerations on an Economic Educational Research Approach , he analyzed fundamentally the scientific support of school and company model projects in 1992 .

Didactics of socio-economic education : By accompanying model experiments and through numerous publications, Peter FE Sloane made a significant contribution to the implementation of curricula with learning fields in vocational training. Of particular importance were the DFG project FäLoU (= teaching across subjects and locations) from 1998 to 2000 as well as the BLK model experiments NELE (= new teaching structures and learning concepts through professional learning in learning fields) from 1998 to 2001 as well as segel-bs (= self-regulated learning in learning fields of the vocational school) from 2005 to 2008. In his research he integrates microdidactic questions (= teaching) with organizational and institutional aspects. In 2007, for example, he presented a model of process-oriented educational work that can be used in didactic innovation projects.

Institutional theory : Sloane conducts research on political-institutional coordination processes in the vocational training system and on control mechanisms for vocational training. Since 2005, the investigation of competence- oriented curricula and educational standards has been of particular importance . He analyzes the implementation of the European Qualifications Framework in the German education system .

Teacher training for vocational schools : Closely related to the above-mentioned research focuses is the investigation of concepts for teacher training at Peter FE Sloane. The aim is to adapt teacher training for vocational schools to current social developments.

His students include: B. Ulrich Braukmann and H.-Hugo Kremer .
