Jens Grüner
Jens Grüner (born February 5, 1965 in Zschopau ) is a German enduro rider and a member of the victorious Six Days Trophy team in 1987.
Athletic career
Jens Grüner joined the MC Zschopau motorsport club in 1980 and did his first off-road drive the following year. Right away he was GDR best in the ID class up to 250 cm³. The following year he took part in the Six Days in Považská Bystrica as a single starter . He won the GDR runner-up in the class up to 250 cm³ in 1984. In 1985 he was a member of the silver vase team that won the cup at the competitions in La Molina (Spain). The following year he finished second with the Silbervasen team. 1987 was his most successful year in sport after he switched to the class up to 500 cm³. In addition to winning the GDR championship , he won the international six-day race in Jelenia Góra, Poland, with the trophy team . In 1988 he defended his national championship title. At the Six Days he drove in the silver vase team, which came fourth. In 1989 he was third in the Enduro European Championship in the class up to 500 cm³. He took the same place in the individual ranking of the Six Days in 1989. He had to end his sporting career in 1990 due to health problems.
Today Jens Grüner runs a rental car and taxi company.
