Jens Kugler

Jens Kugler (born December 12, 1961 in Dresden ) is a German geologist, photographer, author and publisher.

biography

Kugler grew up in Freital . After graduating from school, in 1978 he began an apprenticeship as a metallurgist for design in the stainless steel plant . From 1981 to 1985 Kugler studied exploratory geology at the Bergakademie Freiberg . The geology engineer then worked as a subsoil geologist for the Karl-Marx-Stadt district council until 1990. After the geological department was dissolved, Kugler worked in Haltern am See, North Rhine-Westphalia , for the Doris-Bode-Verlag, which specializes in geological and mineralogical literature, and then as a typesetter and geologist in Dresden and Freiberg.

In 1995, Kugler founded the Jens-Kugler-Verlag as a magazine publisher for publications on Saxon mining history. a. with the publication of the series of publications "Files and reports from the Saxon mining industry". Since 1994 Kugler has been one of the editors of the original Saxon mining calendar. Since 2002, Kugler has been involved in research into the feasibility of the project to include the Ore Mountains in the UNESCO World Heritage List and developed marketing strategies for this. Kugler is the author of a large number of publications in international mining journals. In addition, photographic works by Kugler on historical evidence of mining in the Ore Mountains can be found in a wide variety of print media.

Kugler lives in Kleinvoigtsberg near Freiberg.
