Gunther Galinsky

Gunther Galinsky (born May 26, 1938 in Freiberg ; † March 16, 2019 ) was a German mining engineer and photographer.

Life

Gunter Galinsky learned the trade of miner , trained as a mining engineer from 1958 and then worked at VEB GFE Freiberg. In 1992 he founded his own engineering office.

He discovered his interest in photography at the age of twelve when he first got a camera in his hand. In 1962 he successfully took part in the first district photo show in Freiberg. A year later he became a member of the Freiberg Photography Working Group of the Kulturbund der GDR (today: Freiberger Fotofreunde ), from 1965 to 2015 he was its director. From 1968 to 1992, alongside his job, he was a theater photographer at the Freiberg City Theater .

Galinsky took part in numerous competitions and exhibitions at home and abroad and was involved in many book publications. He was honored u. a. with the honorary title Artiste FIAP (1979), with the Freiberg Citizens' Prize (1999) and the gold medal of the German Association for Photography (1999).
