Jens Landrath

Jens Landrath (born August 22, 1967 ) was a soccer player at 1. FC Magdeburg . There he played in the GDR Oberliga and the NOFV Oberliga .

Soccer career

At the age of 13, Landrath, who had previously played for the BSG Verkehrsbetriebe Waren , joined 1. FC Magdeburg as a student and went through the usual youth teams there. As a junior player, he was used in four international matches for the GDR junior national team. For the 1986/87 season Landrath was reported for the first time as a midfielder for the squad of the GDR league team of the FCM. However, he only had his first appearance in the league at the end of the season. In the encounter of the 23rd match day, on May 9, 1987, BFC Dynamo - 1. FCM (2: 1) he was used as a right midfielder. Until the end of the GDR league in 1991, Landrath could not assert himself as a regular player. He had no chance against players like Steinbach , Bonan , Siersleben and Minkwitz . In five years he was only used in 44 first division games. Nevertheless, Landrath was appointed to four internationals of the GDR youth national team between 1988 and 1989. In 1991 1. FC Magdeburg missed qualifying for paid football as tenth in the table and had to compete in the NOFV amateur league. After numerous top performers left the club, Landrath got better. Before he left FCM in 1993, he played 57 games in the league. His last competitive game for 1. FC Magdeburg was the state cup final against Halleschen FC (3-2) on June 5, 1993.
