Jens Lohmann

Jens Lohmann (born September 18, 1966 in Stuttgart ) is a German violinist .

Jens Lohmann grew up in Stuttgart, today he lives in Zurich . After graduating from high school, he studied violin with Aida Stucki in Winterthur and Yfrah Neaman at the Guildhall School in London. In 1991 he received the soloist diploma. He is the winner of numerous international competitions, such as the Rahn competition (1989) and the RAI competition. Since then he has made numerous recordings for radio and on CD, including as a soloist with the English Chamber Orchestra . For a long time he has been a member of various ensembles (including the Swiss Octet and the Stringendo Zurich ), chamber musician and guest concert master. In the meantime he studied musicology and philosophy (1991–1996) at the University of Freiburg . In 2006 Lohmann founded the festival week "Autumn in the Helferei". Lohmann works as a violin teacher at the Zurich Conservatory . At Lohmann, Sebastian Bohren , Olivia Momoyo Resch and Simon Wiener , among others , learned to play the violin.
