Simon Wiener

Simon Wiener (born May 5, 1994 in Uster ) is a Swiss violinist and composer .

Simon Wiener was a long-time student of Jens Lohmann . He studied with Zakhar Bron at the Zurich University of Music and with Renaud Capuçon at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne . Wiener has won numerous national and international competitions and sponsorship awards, including the 2008 Gradus ad Parnassum sponsorship prize at the Austrian Classic Prize 2008 and first prize with distinction at the 2010 Swiss Youth Music Competition in the composition and violin categories. In 2012 he again won first prize with distinction in the composition and violin categories. In the same year he won 3rd prize at the International Wieniawski-Lipinski Competition in Lublin , Poland . In 2014 he won 3rd prize at the Rahn Music Prize. He attended numerous master classes, including a. with Ana Chumachenco , Zakhar Bron, Ingolf Turban and Pavel Vernikov . Wiener has given concerts in various European countries with orchestras such as the Junge Münchner Philharmonie , the Hermitage Orchestra , the Franz Schmidt Chamber Orchestra and the Southwest German Chamber Orchestra Pforzheim. He plays a Storioni violin.
