Jeroen van Merriënboer

Jeroen Johannes Geertrudes van Merriënboer (born March 30, 1959 ) is an education researcher from the Netherlands who became famous for his research on instruction design , especially through the 4C / ID model ( four-component instruction design model ).

Career

Jeroen van Merriënboer was born in Budel . In 1977 he graduated from Fons Vitae Lyceum in Amsterdam. Jeroen van Merriënboer then studied experimental psychology at the Free University of Amsterdam and graduated in 1984 with the degree drs. from. (The degree drs. Or doctorandus was the equivalent of a master’s degree in the Netherlands .) During his studies he worked as an assistant in teaching and research. After completing his studies, Jeroen van Merriënboer worked as a research assistant at the Faculty of Instructional Technology at the University of Twente . From 1987 he was an assistant professor at the faculty. In 1988 he became the project coordinator and owner of Bijlstra & Van Merriënboer - Training Consultancy and Development . The doctorate (cum laude) took place in 1990 in instruction technology at the University of Twente and was supervised by Prof. Dr. Sanne Dijkstra . From 1991 to 1997 Jeroen van Merriënboer was an adjunct professor for instructional technology at the University of Twente. This was followed by an adjunct professorship in cognitive psychology in 1997 and 1998 at Maastricht University . From 1998 Jeroen van Merriënboer has been a full professor at the Open Universiteit Nederland (Educational Technology Expertise Center).
