Jerome Brudos

Jerome Henry "Jerry" Brudos (born January 31, 1939 in South Dakota , † March 28, 2006 in Salem ) was an American serial killer , who became known as a lust killer and shoe fetish slayer .

At the age of five, Jerome Brudos found a pair of high-heeled patent leather shoes in a garbage dump. He took them home and tried them on. When his mother found the shoes, she burned them. At sixteen, Brudos lived in Oregon , where he broke into houses and stole women's shoes, including underwear.

In 1968, Brudos was married and had two children when 19-year-old Linda Slawson stood on the doorstep of his apartment in a suburb of Portland . She had an appointment to sell an encyclopedia, but was wrong about the door. Brudos dragged the woman into his basement while being beaten and strangled her. Before he sank the body in the Willamette River , he had removed the dead man's foot and put it in the freezer wearing his pumps. He was also known to cruelly mutilate his victims, for example cutting them. B. the breasts.

Brudos killed and maimed his victims four more times over the next several months. He was caught when the police set a trap for him using a decoy . After his arrest, decisive evidence against Brudos was a photo he took of one of his victims, showing him in a mirror. Brudos confessed to the murders and pleaded guilty in court when it was clear he would not be declared insane .

Jerome Brudos was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1969 and died in March 2006 in the Oregon States Penitentiary in Salem .
