Jerry Hausman
Jerry Allen Hausman (born May 5, 1946 in Weirton , West Virginia ) is an American economist .
Life
Hausman went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Anchorage after his military service from 1968 to 1970 . There he was from 1973 Assistant Professor and from 1976 associate professor . In 1979 he became a full professor . After several visiting professorships at Harvard University in the 1980s, he took over the John and Jennie S. MacDonald Professorship at MIT in 1992 .
Hausman belongs to various research institutions. For example, he is a member of the National Bureau of Economic Research and the National Academy of Social Insurance .

Hausman works primarily in the area of tax effects on the economy, environmental and energy management, and the economy of aging. He also publishes on price indices , the regulation of industries such as telecommunications or railways, and econometrics . He is best known for the Hausman specification test .
