Jerry Cook

Jerry Cook (born June 20, 1943 in Rome , New York ) is a former NASCAR racing driver. He is one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers and currently serves on the NASCAR Board of Directors and as a member of the NASCAR Competition Committee.

Racing career

He started racing at the age of 13. In 1969 he won his first title on the Utica-Rome-Speedway. From 1971 to 1977 he won six championships in the Featherlite Modified Series . Interestingly enough, Cook comes from the same city as his biggest competitor Richie Evans , with whom he had various exciting duels on the racetrack.

In 1982 Cook ended his racing career in the Modifies Series, in which he won 342 races. In 2003 he was named one of NASCAR's list of the best modified drivers of all time.

Work in NASCAR administration

At the beginning of the 1985 season, Cook took over the post of director of the Whelen Modified Tour . He later moved to the supervisory board and the competition committee of NASCAR, where he is still active.
