Jerzy Matuszkiewicz
Jerzy "Duduś" Matuszkiewicz (born April 10, 1928 in Jasło ) is a Polish jazz musician ( clarinet , saxophone ) and film composer . Due to his considerable influence on the Polish scene, he is considered the "father of Polish jazz music."
Live and act
Matuszkiewicz led the band Melomani from 1950 to 1958 , with whom he was involved in recordings between 1952 and 1957 (re-release 1999 on JF Records). In 1957 he was one of the musicians who met with West German jazz musicians in Sopot; Melomani jammed there with the Spree City Stompers . In 1964 Joachim Ernst Berendt invited him to appear in the film Jazz from Poland alongside Krzysztof Komeda , Andrzej Kurylewicz , Jerzy Milian and Roman Dyląg . Since 1965 he concentrated on compositions for film and advertising.
