Jesús Gámez Duarte (born April 10, 1985 in Fuengirola ) is a Spanish football player . The right full-back played nine years as a professional at Málaga FC and has so far made over 260 league games for the club. He has been under contract with Newcastle United since 2016 .
Career
Gámez grew up in Fuengirola in the province of Málaga and began playing football at the local UD Fuengirola club . In 2000 he moved to the youth department of Málaga, 27 kilometers away. After four years in junior squads, he made his first appearances in the second team in 2004, before making his league debut in the Primera División in November 2005 . In the summer of the same year he took part in the Mediterranean Games with the U-23 national team of his home country and won the gold medal. In that same season, Gámez relegated to the Segunda División with Málaga , but managed - he had already established himself as a regular - two years later the promotion. In all subsequent games he never played less than 25 league games and briefly took over the captaincy in the summer of 2011 . In May 2012 he extended his contract until the end of the 2015/16 season. For the 2014/15 season Gámez moved to Atlético Madrid . He signed a three-year contract.
After barely appearing in his second season at Atletico, he signed a two-year contract with English second division club Newcastle United on July 8, 2016 .
