This was followed by participation in exhibitions in New York and London, initiated by Mathias Goeritz in 1950, his first solo exhibition in the Galería Arquitac in Guadalajara, as well as further participation in group exhibitions in Mexico City and Barcelona . In the early 1950s, Reyes also advised Luis Barragán Morfín on his work in the Pedregal de San Ángel in southern Mexico City. In 1962 he was honored by the INBA in the Palacio de Bellas Artes and in 1977 at the Universidad de Guadalajara .
