The Jeseriger See is a very small, heavily silting lake in the Jeserig district , a district of the municipality of Groß Kreutz (Havel) in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district ( Brandenburg state ).

Geographical location and hydrography

The Jeseriger See is located directly north of Jeserig, a district of the (large) community Groß Kreutz (Havel). It is 3.69 hectares in size. It is in the process of silting up and around 1900 it was many times larger than the topographic map around 1900 and the original measuring table 3542 Groß Kreutz from 1839 show. The lake is surrounded by a wide belt of reeds, some of which have already been replaced by a break forest. The lake itself is hardly accessible.

Its lake level is on average around 28  m above sea level. NHN . It has a tributary from the Götzer See , but it is led around the north around today's (remaining) lake. A river leads from the break area to the Havel .

history

The lake was first mentioned in a document in 1367 ( stagni Jeserik, que vulgariter tochwater vocatur ) on the occasion of a dispute about the use of the lake between the Lehnin monastery and the brothers Nikolaus and Mathäus von Retzow, which the monastery ultimately won. In 1368 the v. Rochow also gave their rights to the lake to the Lehnin monastery. In 1375 it appears in the spelling Geserik . In the Schmettau'schen map of 1767/87 it is called Geserichsche See and in the Urmes table sheet 3542 Groß Kreutz from 1839 it is written Ieseriger See . The lake is named after the place on the shore. The name Jeserig is derived from * jezero and means lake.

Railway construction 1845/6

1845/6 the railway line was Potsdam-Magdeburg by the Potsdam-Magdeburg railway company built. The crossing of the Jeseriger Luches, or the silted up part of the former Jeseriger See, caused particular difficulties in the section between Potsdam and Brandenburg an der Havel , which is particularly rich in water and swamps . Landfills were initially unsuccessful. Only after a filled with sand and stones Zille sank, the embankments brought a stable surface, could be placed on the train path. Nevertheless, later refills were always necessary.
