Jesse Lowen Shearer

Jesse Lowen Shearer (* 1921 ; † 1992 ) was an American university professor , engineer and pioneer in the field of hydraulics .

Shearer received his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) , where he was a member of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering from 1950 to 1963 , where he worked at the Dynamic Analysis & Control Laboratory . From 1963 until his retirement in 1985 he was a professor in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Pennsylvania State University . He was also a member of the Dynamic Systems and Control Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

Awards

In 1965 he received the Donald P. Eckman Award from the Instrument Society of America , in 1966 the Charles Russ Richards Memorial Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and finally in 1983 the Rufus Oldenburger Medal from ASME.
