Jesson Quinart

Jesson Quinart (* 1583 ; † April 28, 1670 in Reims ), also called Jean or Johanns Quinard , was a French organist and composer .

Life

As a choirboy at Reims Cathedral , he received his first musical education. There he was maître de musique , i.e. Kapellmeister, until 1623 . On November 22nd, 1606, he also became the organist of the cathedral's great organ . Since he also served as a deacon and was appointed canon in 1624 , he must have had spiritual education. His grave is in the founded by him Franciscans - Chapel Sainte Claire.

Quinart left behind several masses , the Missa sex voci ad Mitationem Moduli 'Surge propera' printed in 1665 , the four-part mass Columba mea and the settings Dilectus meus and Sonet vox (each with six parts ).
