The Jesus Christ Church on the mountain of Allemühl is a Protestant church building in Allemühl, a district of Schönbrunn in the Rhein-Neckar district in Baden-Württemberg .

history

In the small town of Allemühl, which is part of the parish in the Schönbrunn district of Haag with a church and cemetery in Schönbrunn, about eight kilometers away, there was originally no church building or cemetery. The place received its own cemetery on Berg von Allemühl in 1939. From 1947, services were held in the Allemühl schoolhouse. The influx of summer vacationers in the period after the Second World War created the need for a separate church, the construction of which was discussed from 1953. In 1957, a plot of land on a hillside near the town's cemetery was acquired and a building committee was formed with representatives from the church and political community. The population favored a design by architect Wilhelm Fischer from Schwanheim, but the church building department in Heidelberg ultimately preferred the plans by the Heidelberg architect König. The groundbreaking ceremony for the church took place on October 6, 1957, the topping-out ceremony was celebrated in spring 1958 and the church was inaugurated on October 12, 1958.

The majority of the construction costs were taken over by the Protestant regional church in Karlsruhe, the rest was met with donations from the population and the political communities of Schönbrunn and Schwanheim. The church clock is a foundation of the parishes Schönbrunn and Schwanheim.

After a generous donation, the heating, the outside door and the lighting of the church were replaced in 2001.
