Jesussaft is the fifth album of the electro music project SOKO Friedhof and was released in 2006 on the band's own label Von Grafenwald .

The title is a reference to the abuse of process to Michael Jackson who has been accused of having had sexual relations with a minor. According to the testimony of this boy and his brother, Jackson is said to have referred to alcohol as "Jesus juice". Line took up this neologism and used it for his new album.

It is the first album by SOKO Friedhof , which is purely in German. Greta Csatlos, Line's singing partner in the band Untoten , can also be heard as the second voice on two songs.

content

Some songs reflect social grievances that are dark, morbid or even aggressively packaged, with the lyrics being debatable as to whether it's deep black humor, provocative satire on society or meaningless conception.

The first track, “Garbage Man”, is about a garbage man who carries garbage through the streets every day and feels lonely because of the social isolation it creates. People who do not bring him garbage will be brought "to their final resting place" by him. On the one hand, Line addresses today's "throwaway society" with the words " find some [sic!] Things in the garbage that no one else wants ", the social criticism is increased by the fact that in the last lines the garbage man is among the things who no one wants anymore, finds the body of a little girl that was thrown away there wrapped up like garbage. The song was also released in advance on the best-of album released a year earlier. The garbage man appears again in the song “The garbage man and the girl”, this time his unfulfilled love for a girl is portrayed there.

The title song "Jesussaft" alludes to pedophilia and masturbation of minors and is about a little girl who meets an elderly gentleman in a playground who is bare. The song is written from a voyeuristic point of view.

Compared to very profound lyrics, the song "Grufties" is a pure fun song. It is the textually modified version of the well-known song Ten Little Negroes , which is now about fans of the Gothic scene and all the clichés of the scene such as stay parodied in cellars and tombs or necromancy . The place where one of the only two little goths falls away, because he had pretended and "in reality (...) a fan of Yvonne Catterfeld " (written by Line "Yvonne Cutterfeld") provides additional humor .

Musical aspects

Compared to the previous releases, the songs are now much more tied to the vocal lines, songs composed purely of samples, as was the case on the debut album Grabschönheiten , but with the titles "Fucking does not work ...", " Bitch ”,“ being a soldier ”and“ tripcreator ”still present. The quote “Drugs are our friends” comes from the German dubbed version of the US film The 51st State , the sentence “smooch me, but fuck doesn't work” from Freeway .

The songs themselves differ in mood, songs like “On a day like this” have a deeply depressing effect, while songs like “Hexensommer” are much gentler. Also, some songs are less electro-heavy than others.

Presentation

Compared to the previous albums, the booklet with sixteen pages is now designed much more professionally, all texts that were written by Line for the album are printed, with the exception of the nameless bonus track, which is not specified. There are also some pictures printed, most of them show Line herself.

Reviews

The music magazine Orkus gave the album 9 out of 10 maximum points and called it the musically most club-compatible album of the project, "here and there tamed by lovely or sad melodies" .

In Sonic Seducer , Greta Csatlos' voice was used in the song “Die Liebe kann schrei'n”, but the magazine forgot that she also had a short part in the song “The Garbage Man and the Girl”. Greta is called “David's artistic better half among the undead ”, the song works “with her voice as a stylistic device (...) much more impressive and forms one of the highlights on the new SOKO album [cemetery]”.
