Jette Bang

Jette Bang, 1959

Jette Bang (born February 4, 1914 in Solbjerg Sogn , Frederiksberg Kommune , † February 16, 1964 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish photographer who left a large ethnographic collection of pictures about the life and culture of the Inuit and Inughuit Greenland .

She took photographs in Greenland in 1936, 1937, 1938, 1939, 1945, 1956, 1961, 1962 and 1963.

In addition to her photographic work, she has also published several books and films about Greenland and its inhabitants, including the ethnographic film Inuit . It was the first color film shot in Greenland, shot in 1938/39 and completed in 1940.
