Jeremy Abbott (born June 5, 1985 in Aspen , Colorado ) is an American figure skater who starts in a single run .
Abbott is the son of Allison Scott and Danny Abbott. He has a sister, Gwen, who is a downhill skier. Abbott began ice skating at the age of two, and by the age of four, inspired by Robin Cousins , he was already taking part in competitions.
He trained with Broadmoor SC in Colorado Springs , but switched to coach Yuka Satō in Detroit in 2009 . Abbott is the winner of the Grand Prix finals of the 2008/2009 season and was US champion for the first time in 2009 . In 2010 he won the US championship for the second time in a row, by a large margin ahead of reigning world champion Evan Lysacek . However, he was unable to achieve his potential at the 2009 World Cup in Los Angeles or the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver . However, he did better at the 2010 World Cup in Turin when he finished fifth.
