Jewhen Mykolajowytsch Tscherepowskyj ( Ukrainian Євген Миколайович Череповський ; born October 17, 1934 in Kharkiv , Ukrainian SSR ; † July 12, 1994 ) was a Soviet saber fencer .
successes
Yevhen Tscherepowskyj was vice world champion with the team in Paris in 1957 and in Turin in 1961 . In addition, he won the bronze medal with her in Rome in 1955 and in Budapest in 1959 . He took part in the Olympic Games twice: at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne , he and the Soviet team took third place in the final round behind Hungary and Poland and thus received bronze together with Lew Kuznetsov , Jakow Rylski , Leonid Bogdanow and Dawid Tyschler . In the individual, he was eliminated in the semifinals as fifth in his group and so narrowly missed out on the finals. Four years later he was fifth with the team in Rome.
