Jiří Javorský

Jiří Javorský (born February 9, 1932 in Prague , † September 16, 2002 in Heilbronn ) was a Czechoslovak tennis player .

Career

Jiří Javorský played for many years at the Tennis Grand Prix and was one of the most successful players in his country in his time with numerous national championship titles in singles, doubles and mixed. He achieved his greatest success in 1957 when he and Věra Suková won the mixed at the French Open against Edda Buding and Luis Ayala . In 1961 they were again in the finals in Roland Garros, but there were defeated by Darlene Hard and Rod Laver .

Between 1955 and 1966, Jiří Javorský completed 20 matches for the Czechoslovak Davis Cup team . He won 20 of his 35 singles games, in doubles he won 13 of a total of 20 games.

After the end of his active career, he moved to Germany in 1968 and worked there as a tennis coach. Jiří Javorský died in Heilbronn in 2002.
