Jim Ashilevi

Jim Ashilevi (born August 29, 1984 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian writer and playwright . He is also active as a radio presenter and organizer of film festivals.

Jim Ashilevi studied audiovisual media at Tallinn University after graduating from high school . He is considered one of the most promising young Estonian authors. Ashilevi made his debut in 2005 with a novella and with the drama Nagu poisid vihma käes ("Like Boys in the Rain"). At the age of 24 he received the annual prize of the state foundation Eesti Kultuurkapital for his play Portselanisuits (German porcelain smoke , translated by Irja Grönholm ), which premiered in Tallinn in 2007. In May 2009 it received the Heidelberg Stückemarkt innovation award .
