James Dillion

James Leo "Jim" Dillion (born May 2, 1929 in Plain City , Ohio , † September 16, 2010 in Arlington , Texas ) was an American discus thrower .

Dillion attended Auburn University and was NCAA discus champion in 1951 . The following year he won the championships of the Amateur Athletic Union and qualified third in the US eliminations for participation in the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki. There he won the bronze medal with a width of 53.28 m behind his compatriot Sim Iness (55.03 m) and the Italian Adolfo Consolini (53.78 m).

James Dillion was 1.88 m tall and had a competition weight of 99 kg. In the discus throw he achieved his best length in 1954 with 55.07 m, in the shot put in 1952 with 16.11 m. After the end of his sporting career, he worked as an aircraft mechanic.
