Jim Carter Kleinsasser (born January 31, 1977 in Carrington , North Dakota ) is an American football player on the position of tight end and fullback . He played with the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League throughout his career . After the 2011 season , he announced his retirement.

Career

College career

Kleinsasser attended the University of North Dakota and played on both their football and basketball teams . During his college days, he received several awards in the field of football, such as the Circle of Champions North Dakota Player of the Year .

NFL career

He came to the Minnesota Vikings in 1999 through the NFL Draft . Initially only used as a tight end, it was initially retrained more and more to become a fullback. Kleinsasser played 13 of 16 games in his first year, seven of them as a starter.

Over the years he has become a fixture with the Vikings. In 2002 he caught his first touchdown after a 1-yard pass. His most successful year in sporting terms followed in 2003 . Kleinsasser had four touchdowns, 46 passes caught and 401 yards of space gain. In 2004 he missed the entire season due to an injury.

Jim Kleinsasser has played every game since 2005 , totaling 1,688 yards. In twelve seasons he got six touchdowns, his last he scored in 2007 against the Washington Redskins .
