Jim White (trumpeter)

James "Jim" White (also Jimmy White , born September 23, 1931 in Ktirrat , West Virginia ; † July 10, 2018 ) was an American jazz musician ( trumpet , composition ).

Live and act

White attended Logan High School, where he played in the school's marching band . While at school he had the opportunity to perform at military funerals. He received his bachelor's degree from Marshall University ; he then taught in public schools in Ohio and Kentucky . He also wrote musicians for marching bands. He was also a member of the Hatfield Big Band before moving to New York City and working in orchestras, among others. a. in the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra , with which he accompanied vocalists such as Bob Hope . In the 1980s he was a trumpeter with Jaki Byard's big band The Apollo Stompers , to be heard on the Soul Note albums Phantasies and Phantasies II . In the field of jazz he was involved in three recording sessions between 1984 and 1999, most recently in the band of saxophonist and singer Tommy Wills ( Swingin 'the Blues ). In later years he worked as a manager for Emile Charlap 's agency ; u. a. He was in charge of film music projects by Ennio Morricone and Tan Dun . Most recently he worked as an executive for Benny Golson .
