Jimi D. (born April 23, 1980 in Graz ; real name Christopher Beer ) is an Austrian - American singer-songwriter .

Life

Christopher Beer, also known under the pseudonym Jimi D. , has two hometowns. Because of his American mother and Austrian father, he lived alternately in Graz (Austria) and Wellfleet ( Massachusetts ). As a child, Beer discovered his passion for music. He sang in the school choir , learned the piano and cello . At the age of fourteen he began to compose his own songs and to learn to play the guitar by himself . After studying psychology with a minor in media studies in Scotland and in Vienna he was under the stage name Jimmy D. four years a member of the Austrian reggae band Rising Girl . In 2003 the band released their first album "Just Be You". Two years later, the Austrian major label Sony BMG became aware of the formation and released the single Rising Girl . The song was played on Austrian radio stations for several weeks and topped the charts. After getting off the band Beer began his musical career under the stage name Jimi D. on.

Beer sings live, plays guitar, kazoo and harmonica . The music style is characterized by a mixture of reggae, ska , rock and folk elements. The sound of the high baritone / tenor voice is very distinctive . Word games, poems and double or multiple interpretations are a characteristic of his musical works.
