Jimmy Binning
Ian "Jimmy" Binning (born July 25, 1927 in Blantyre ) is a former Scottish football player . The defender was part of the Scottish national team at the 1954 World Cup .
Binning played in Scottish professional football from 1948 when he made his debut for FC Arbroath . In 1951 he moved from the second division to the first division promoted Queen of the South . There he was until his end of career in 1959 regular force of the club, which placed mainly in the middle of the table, and played a total of 221 league games and scored one goal. In April 1954 he took part in a representative game of the Scottish league selection against an English league selection in London. In the summer of 1954 he was appointed to the 22-player squad for the World Cup finals in Switzerland, but was not one of the only 13 players who actually made it to the finals.
