Jirka Dell'Oro-Friedl

Jirka Dell'Oro-Friedl (born January 1, 1965 in Mainz ) is a German engineer and has been a professor for game design , game development, interaction design and programming at the Faculty of Digital Media at Furtwangen University since 2010 .

Life

Dell'Oro-Friedl studied mechanical engineering at the Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences from 1987 to 1991 . For special achievements during his studies, he was awarded the Adam Opel Prize by the Society for the Promotion of Engineering Studies in Rüsselsheim . From 1992 to 1994 Dell'Oro-Friedl was employed by NSM Unterhaltungsgeräte AG in Bingen as a development engineer and designer for game software. He then spent a year in the USA , where he began to work independently in the field of multimedia development. After his return to Germany, he worked as a freelancer in the field of learning and game software development for two years. In 1997 Dell'Oro-Friedl founded EnterTrain Software GmbH, in which he is a partner to this day. In 2000 he began to work as a lecturer at the Mainz University of Applied Sciences in the media design course . From 2002 he continued this activity as a guest lecturer . Jirka Dell'Oro-Friedl has been a professor at the Faculty of Digital Media at Furtwangen University since October 2010 . There he was Dean of Studies from 2012 to 2016 and headed the bachelor's degree in media informatics . As an Aikido teacher, he volunteers the Aiki Academy, a non-profit society for conflict management, self-protection, moral courage and holistic fitness based on Aikido , with several locations in Germany.

Research and areas of work

Jirka Dell'Oro-Friedl was involved in the development of numerous game and educational software productions and has been awarded various prizes, including the German Computer Game Prize , the Comenius Award and the Macromedia Award. His best-known titles include Spellforce , Opera Fatal , Techforce and ExperiMINTe. Dell'Oro-Friedl teaches at the Faculty of Digital Media at Furtwangen University in the areas of game design , game development, interaction design and programming . He also heads the university's games laboratory.
