Jisra'el Kesar ( Hebrew ישראל קיסר; * May 20, 1931 in Sanaa , Yemen to September 8, 2019 in Cholon ) was an Israeli politician and member of the Knesset .

Life

Kesar emigrated from Yemen in 1931 and moved to Palestine in 1933. He was a captain in the Israel Defense Forces . He studied economics and sociology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Tel Aviv .

politics

From 1984 to 1996 he was a member of the Knesset from the 11th to the 13th legislative term. From 1984 to 1991 he was a Knesset member of the HaMa'arach , from 1991 to 1995 he was a Knesset member of the Avoda , and from 1992 to 1996 he was the Israeli transport minister .
