Jitka Karlíková

Jitka Karlíková (born February 9, 1947 in Litomyšl ) is a Czechoslovak table tennis player who became European champion in doubles in 1968.

Career

Jitka Karlíková was trained by her father Jaroslav Karlík together with her sister Jarmila (now Jarmila Hummelová-Karlíková), who was born in 1944. In 1960 the Litomyšl family moved to Prague. In the mid-1960s, Jitka Karlíková played together with her sister Jarmila at the Spartak Sokolovo Prague club.

From 1963 to 1969 Jitka Karlíková took part in four world championships . It came in 1969 in doubles with Ilona Voštová to the semi-finals. With the Czechoslovak women's team, she finished fourth in 1967 and 1969.

She was nominated four times for European championships . Here she won gold in doubles with Marta Lužová in 1968, and silver in the team competition two years later . With the same doubles partner, she won the 1967/68 International German Championships.

In the ITTF world rankings , Karlíková was ranked 24th in December 1968. After 1972 she no longer appeared internationally as a competitive athlete.

Jitka Karlíková married the table tennis player and functionary Karel Nykl sen. Her son's name is also Karel and he plays table tennis. Under the name Jitka Nyklová , she won the senior European championship in 1997 in the age group 50+ in singles and doubles with her sister Jarmila Hummelova.
