Noé Jitrik (born January 23, 1928 in Rivera , Buenos Aires Province ) is an Argentine literary scholar, editor and writer.

Jitrik began in 1947 a. a. Studied literature at the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) and was able to successfully complete this degree in 1952. Subsequently he worked for several years as the responsible publisher and editor of various magazines such as "Centro", "Zona" and "Cotorno".

As such, he soon became one of the most important people in modern Argentine literature and literary criticism. In 1960 he accepted a professorship at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba , where he took over a professorship for Argentine literature . When General Juan Carlos Onganía came to power in 1966 , Jitrik lost all offices and was declared a persona non grata .

Therefore, Jitrik went to the USA and Europe and taught there as a visiting lecturer at various universities. When Alejandro Agustín Lanusse promised democratic elections in 1973, Jitrik returned to Argentina. His political wishes were not fulfilled when General Juan Perón came to power in October 1973 . Jitrik was a supporter of Peronism , so that he emigrated to Mexico in the spring of the following year . There he was u. a. entrusted with a teaching position at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México ( Mexico City ).

In 1987 Jitrik returned to Buenos Aires and accepted a position at the UBA. As a professor he also headed the Instituto de literatura hispanoamericana there for several years .
