João Baptista Alves

João Baptista Alves is an East Timorese politician.

Alves was entrusted in the first constitutional government of East Timor under Prime Minister Marí Bin Amude Alkatiri on March 6, 2003 with the newly created office of State Secretary for state building projects. With the government reshuffle on July 26, 2005, Alves was appointed State Secretary for Environmental Coordination , Territorial Order and Technical Development .

Alves also retained his post under the following Prime Ministers, José Ramos-Horta and Estanislau da Silva .

When the fourth constitutional government of East Timor took office , Alves resigned from the East Timorese cabinet on August 8, 2007 .

In 2018/2019 Alves was Vice President of the Câmera de Comércio e Indústria de Timor-Leste (CCI-TL).
