Want Martina
Will Martina (* in Canberra ) is an Australian jazz cellist.
Live and act
Martina grew up in Canberra and received classical cello lessons from an early age. He spent a year in London before completing his classical instrumental studies in Melbourne. when he discovered improvisation . In 2006 he moved to New York, where he took lessons from Gregoire Maret, Josh Roseman and Larry Grenadier .
Martina has performed with artists as diverse as Henry Threadgill , Dave Liebman and Melvin Van Peebles . Then he joined the bands of Bassam Saba and Jason Lindner and the Burnt Sugar Chamber Arkestra . He also recorded albums under his own name, including The Dam Levels (2011) and Modular Living By Design (2013) with pianist Lindner and drummer Richie Barshay . Furthermore belonged to the Monash Art Ensemble , with whom several albums were created.
