Jason Lindner (born February 1, 1973 in Brooklyn , New York City ) is an American fusion and jazz musician ( piano , keyboard , arrangement , composition ) and orchestra conductor .

Live and act

Lindner, who was able to play the piano by hearing at the age of three, had piano lessons from the age of seven. After high school he studied at Mannes College The New School for Music in 1991 and then took lessons from Barry Harris . He first played with Junior Cook and Dennis Charles . He was a member of Meshell Ndegeocello's band and worked as musical director, arranger and pianist for Claudia Acuña , including on her debut album Wind from the South . In 2000 his record debut Premonition was released . a. Contributed by Avishai Cohen , Jeff Ballard, and Charles Owens . In addition to other band projects, he has been leading a big band since 1995 , with whom he regularly appears at the New York jazz club Smalls , rehearsing new works and in 2005 released the album Live at the Jazz Gallery . With his trio Now vs. Now he has released three albums. In 2015 he was involved in David Bowie's last album Blackstar ; then toured with Donny McCaslin ( Beyond Now , Blow ).

Michael G. Nastos compares his big band work with that of Maria Schneider , Toshiko Akiyoshi and Carla Bley . In 2015, his big band won the Down Beat critics poll in the “Rising Star” category. Arturo O'Farrill brought him in 2013 for the recording of his track "They Came" with the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra on the Grammy- winning album The Offense of the Drum (2014). In 2019 he led the hr big band for a concert for which he arranged the music of Donny McCaslin.
