Charles Owens (saxophonist, 1972)
Charles Owens (* 6. June 1972 in Alexandria (Virginia) ) is an American jazz - tenor saxophonist .
Owens grew up in a suburb of Washington, DC . He attended the Duke Ellington School for the Arts and then moved to Miami , where he continued his education at the New World School of the Arts . In 1992 he came to New York and studied in the New School's jazz program . Since then he has worked in various band projects, including a. with Daniel Freedman, Omer Avital ( Asking No Permission , 1996), Jason Lindner ( Premonition , 1998) and wrote the score for Fly Trap . He lives in Charlottesville , Virginia . Currently (2019) he leads a trio with Alexander Claffy (bass) and Kyle Poole (drums).
Charles Owens should not be confused with the saxophonist Charles Owens , born in 1939, of the same name .
