João Batista Lima Gomes , called Mossoró, (born June 24, 1985 in Mossoró ) is a Brazilian football player .

Career

João Batista Lima Gomes was born on June 24, 1985 in the city of Mossoró in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte , whose name he chose as his stage name. The striker's career so far has been shaped by a number of more or less brief engagements:

In 2005, at the age of 20, he moved from Associação Cultural Esporte Clube Baraúnas in his hometown of Mossoró to the Saudi Arabian champion and cup winner Al Hilal Riyadh . After a year he went back to Brazil to AA Ponte Preta , for which he played 6 Série A matches, and then played six months in Série C at Friburguense Atlético Clube . A guest appearance at the Portuguese super league club CF Estrela Amadora in autumn 2007 ended after only three games (and 138 minutes of competitive play) due to problems with the payment of the salary. Mossoró then returned to his footballing roots, to Barauna's Esporte Clube, but tried again a few months later to make the leap to Europe.

After the Austrian Bundesliga club SCR Altach was not interested in a commitment, the striker was tested by the first division club FC Wacker Innsbruck , where Fabiano - a former teammate Mossorós at Ponte Preta - also played. Mossoró scored 7 goals in 5 friendly matches and was convincing from a technical point of view, but due to a lack of fitness he only received a trial contract until the end of March 2009. This resulted in a contract until the end of the season with the option of extension, which the club also drew three games before the championship ended .

Mossoró made his first league debut on March 14, 2009 against FC Lustenau when he was substituted on in the 56th minute. For the first time he was allowed to enter the scorers list on March 20, 2009 with a double against SKN St. Pölten . On the best way to become one of the crowd's favorites, Mossoró suffered a sudden setback: In a friendly against SpVgg Unterhaching on July 1, 2009, he tore a cruciate ligament and was subsequently out for the entire autumn season. His comeback in March 2010 was, apart from a double against Vienna , only marked by a few short appearances. A change was already apparent in April; on June 4, 2010, exactly one week after FC Wacker Innsbruck secured the championship title in the second-rate first division and promotion to the Bundesliga, Mossoró's departure was officially announced.

Mossoró was without a club for a year before joining Tai Po FC from Hong Kong in mid-2011 . However, he only played there for a few months. From 2012 to 2014 he played for al-Jazeera in Jordan. In 2016 he was under contract with ABC Natal in Brazil for a few months .
