from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

João José Silva Abranches Garcia (born June 11, 1967 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese mountaineer . He is the first Portuguese and the 19th person ever to have managed to climb all eight-thousanders , i.e. all 14 mountains in the world with a height of over 8,000 meters . He completely renounced the use of bottled oxygen; only nine others had done this before him.

Garcia organizes and leads mountaineering tours. He has already published three books on the subject and his film footage of the peaks is the basis for television documentaries.
