João Vicente Soares da Veiga

The Portuguese captain João Vicente Soares da Veiga (* 1769 ) was governor of Portuguese Timor from 1803 to 1807 .

In 1803 Soares da Veiga banished the illegitimate son of Liurais of Vemasse Dom Felipe de Freitas as the first Timorese to Goa . This had led a rebellion against the Portuguese. Until now this punishment had not been common.
