Jo Miard

Jo Miard , actually Karl-Heinz Müller (born January 20, 1929 in Wiesbaden ; † November 3, 1982 in Heppenheim ) was a German sculptor .

After completing an apprenticeship as a stonemason , he studied sculpture and music (trombone, double bass) at the Academy of Fine Arts in Mainz . He also played in a jazz formation. From 1965 Miard worked as a freelance sculptor. He lived and worked in Darmstadt from 1971 and was a member of the New Darmstadt Secession . He took his stage name from MIrabel / ARDdèche, a village in southern France where he lived for a time. Mirabel later became the scene of the "Pleinairs" (1980–2001) where, organized by the Darmstadt Secession, artists from Eastern Europe, the GDR and West Germany met to exchange ideas and work together.
