Life

Joachim Berlak studied mechanical engineering with a focus on production technology at the Technical University of Munich and completed his diploma thesis on supply chain management at IBM management consultancy. For this he was awarded by the Society for Production Management in 2000. He then worked for three and a half years at the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb) of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Munich as a research assistant or assistant. In addition to research and consulting projects in the areas of ERP / PPS software, operations management, factory planning, logistics, production planning and control, he headed the research project CHANGESYS on the adaptability of operational software within the framework of the Bavarian Research Association for Software Engineering. His doctorate dealt with the structured selection of ERP / PPS software .

From 2003 to 2009 Berlak was at Fauser AG, an internationally active ERP / PPS / MES software manufacturer for medium-sized industrial companies, as Head of Strategy and Consulting and Vice President of the Hungarian Fauser Kft. Responsible at national and international level. In 2009 Berlak founded software4production GmbH with the aim of becoming the innovation leader for Industry 4.0 in medium-sized industry. As managing partner of software4production GmbH, Berlak is dedicated to research and development for innovative Industry 4.0 solutions on a national and international level. As a board member of the NC-Gesellschaft e. V. he advocates the transfer to practice. From 2002 to 2012 he was a lecturer for factory planning at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Landshut University of Applied Sciences . In 2012, Berlak was appointed professor at the International Professional Academy by the State of Hesse , and in 2016 Berlak moved to the FOM - University of Economics and Management as a professor of industrial engineering .

Berlak has been a member of the Association of German Engineers (VDI) since 1994 .
