Joachim Eichhorn (church musician)

Joachim Eichhorn (born January 13, 1946 in Leeste ) is a German church musician .

Life

Eichhorn studied church music in Frankfurt am Main . In 1973 he passed the conducting diploma in Helmuth Rilling's choir conducting class. During this time he had his first church musician position in Sulzbach am Taunus from 1967 to 1971. From 1972 to 1978 he was organist at the Wald- und Gedächtniskirche in Stuttgart and church music assistant to Helmuth Rilling at the Gedächtniskirche. From 1979 to 2011 Joachim Eichhorn was organist and cantor of the Evangelical Cathedral parish in Wetzlar . He also conducts the summer concerts in the Altenberg / Solms monastery church. 1987-1993 he held a teaching position for organ, score and basso continuo at the EKHN church music school in Frankfurt am Main, and since 1993 a teaching position at the State University of Music in Frankfurt am Main.

In 1996 he was appointed church music director. In 2007 Eichhorn was awarded the Lotte badge, the highest cultural award in the city of Wetzlar. He works together with partner choirs in Ilmenau , Erfurt , Avignon and Vitebsk (Belarus). In 1992 a partnership was established with the Vitebsk youth choir.
