Joachim Emde

Joachim Emde (before 1925 - after 1990) was a German officer, most recently a colonel in the Bundeswehr , and an author.

Act

Emde completed his officer training at the war school in Potsdam in 1938, was promoted to lieutenant in September 1938 and, as a member of Nebelabteilung 2, to captain in May 1943 . During the Second World War he served in various rocket launcher units for the Nebeltruppe .

After 1945 he first studied civil engineering . In 1956 he joined the newly established Bundeswehr and was one of the first officers (captain) to become a member of the NBC Defense School. In 1958, now a major , he continued his education in the USA . Then he taught a. a. as part of the company commanders course in Sonthofen. From 1965 to 1969 he was head of training, troop testing and regulations / group training and from 1969 to 1974 commander of the NBC and self-protection school in Sonthofen. In 1973 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class by Brigadier General Robert Stadlhofer ( General of the Artillery Troops ) on behalf of the Federal President . After that, the colonel retired.

In 1979 he published the work Die Nebelwerfer. Development and deployment of the throwing force in World War II , in which he a. a. resorted to photos and war diaries of Lieutenant General Hermann Ochsner ( General of the Fog Troops ). According to the reviewer of the General Swiss Military Journal, he presented a “comprehensive story”.

Emde, who initially acted as chairman of the comradeship of the former fog and throwing troops , was instrumental in the formation of the comradeship of the NBC defense, fog and throwing troops in 1984 . In 1990 he became Honorary Chairman of the Comradeship.
