Joachim Friedrich Zoch

Joachim Friedrich Zoch (born September 21, 1750 in Ribnitz ; † April 2, 1833 in Rostock ) was a German lawyer and mayor of the Hanseatic city of Rostock from 1803 to 1833 .

Joachim Friedrich Zoch attended the large city school Rostock and then studied law at the University of Rostock . At the beginning of his professional career he worked as a lawyer at the City Higher Court. In 1781 he received his doctorate and was given the right to teach at the university. Zoch read about Rostock city law and criminal law. In 1785 he became a senator.

From 1793 Johann Friedrich Zoch worked as city counsel , became second mayor in 1803 and first mayor in 1804. At the court and regional court in Güstrow he was a representative of the city of Rostock. In 1822 Zoch became a member of the Mecklenburg Patriotic Association . Zoch gained great recognition in the Rostock population because of his wise policy during the difficult French occupation 1806-1813.

A street in the Kröpeliner-Tor suburb in Rostock is named after Zoch .
