Joachim Heermann

Joachim Heermann (born May 30, 1930 in Essen ; † July 20, 2018 ) was a German physician and specialist in ear, nose and throat medicine .

Life

Joachim Heermann was born in Dülmen in 1930 as the first of six children to the ENT doctor Hans Heermann . His father was the chief ENT doctor from 1934 to 1967 at the Alfried Krupp Hospital in Essen.

He began studying medicine in Freiburg in 1951. After completing his physical education , he studied in Innsbruck, Munich, Grenoble and Freiburg im Breisgau. He completed his ENT training in 1956 with his father Hans Heermann in Essen (Germany), in 1958 with Harold F. Schuknecht in Detroit (USA) and in 1961 with Georges and Michel Portmann in Bordeaux ( France ). He learned plastic surgery in 1957 with Linden Peer in Newark , ( USA ) and in 1962 with Eduard Schmid in Stuttgart . In 1957 he received his doctorate from the University of Freiburg . From 1968 to 1996 he was chief physician at the ENT clinic at the Alfried Krupp Hospital in Essen.

Act

Heermann gave lectures and published publications in Germany, USA, Sweden, France, Argentina, Brazil, South Korea, China, Canada, Russia, Portugal, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Jordan and South Africa. In the course of his professional activity he developed a. a. the reconstruction of the eardrum, the ossicles and the auditory canal with pieces of palisade cartilage from the tragus and concha (auricle): "Palisade-Cartilage-Tympano-Antrum-Mastoidplasty". Joachim Heermann has published more than 117 specialist articles and three scientific books. He received the title of professor from the University of Düsseldorf through the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia for his publications on microsurgical reconstruction of the middle ear and nose. For "his practice-related, original work on microsurgery of the middle ear and endonasal microsurgery of the tear ducts" he received the Friedrich Hofmann Prize of the German ENT Society in 1996. In 2001 he was awarded the Membre de la Société Francaise d'Oto-Rhino-Laryngologie et de Chirurgie de la face et du Cou .
