Joachim Lüneburg (* 1512 in Lübeck , † October 16, 1588 in Lübeck) was mayor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck. He was already the fifth mayor of the influential and wealthy Lüneburg trading family .

Live and act

Joachim Lüneburg was a son of Ludeke Lüneburg († 1539) and his wife Mette Kerkring. He was a member of the council from 1567 to 1588, meanwhile treasurer and at least 1581 mayor. He owned the goods Eckhorst (today part of Stockelsdorf ), Steinrade and Krempelsdorf (both today incorporated into Lübeck-St. Lorenz ).

In this relatively quiet time after the Peace of Stettin , his main concern was the restoration of the circle society , which had disbanded in 1534 during the Wullenweverschen time. For this purpose he gathered the councilors Dietrich Brömse , Johann Kerkring, his brothers-in-law Gottschalk and Heinrich von Stiten as well as his third cousin, the mayor Hieronymus Lüneburg († 1580), and five other members of these families. Later some members of the Warendorp and Wickede families joined them. In 1580 they all decided to re-establish this society. The goal should be the aristocratic recognition of the families concerned, but this was only attested in 1641 by an imperial document.

Joachim Lüneburg was married to Margret († 1560), the daughter of the mayor Anton von Stiten († 1564), and had at least three children with her, including councilor Alexander Lüneburg († 1625) . One daughter married the councilor Thomas von Wickede (1566–1626) .
